Dear Gosford Red Hatters,
This is an update on events that have been happening in our Chapter.
It has been decided to form an Entertainment Committee to help with the organizing of our outings. It is too much for one person.
The members of this committee are Denise Cusack (QM), Edith Doherty, Deidre Goldrick, Jean Abbott, Carolyn Farrell, Paula Chisholm, Kate Barber, Gail Green, Robyn Foran, Lesley Brooks and Mel French.
These people were asked to join the committee as they are the ones who have been the most active members of the Chapter in organizing events.
We had our first meeting on Sunday the 30th of November and are hoping to have one each month to discuss the running of the Chapter and event planning.
One of the main things discussed was the difficulty in getting people to respond, to e-mails and also committing to going to outings when numbers are a must to organize
buses or bookings. This is a problem with most Chapters and how they solve the problem is.....
They do not organise outings where buses and bookings are required! This would be unfortunate if this is the way we have to go as we have enjoyed many fun filled trips.
If anone has an idea for an outing or would like to organize an outing, it must go through the QM or one of the committee, so that it can be put on the calendar.
If there is an impromptu outing, the QM will send out an e-mail to let those people with e-mail know about it, and would like a quick reply.
This of course brings up another issue. I would like to suggest that we try to set up a buddy system, whereby we can have some one with e-mail, print messages off, or tell a member near by. I know this is not always possible, but we cannot phone everyone.
A matter that was raised at the Queens Assembly in Mittagong in October was, if you are attending another Chapter's outing or having an outing that is not an official outing of the
GOSFORD RED HATTERS
, you will not be covered by our Public Liability Insurance.
As in all organizations, be it sporting or social, there will always be people who criticize. These people are asually the ones who sit back and do not help.....
These matters
were brought up by the committee, they are not the views of one person. If you have an idea or a complaint, please feel free to discuss it with your committee or if you would like to come along to a committee meeting to discuss anything, you would be most welcome to do so.
